The VMGCC began when a small group of enthusiasts decided that the only way to keep alive the joys of motoring in classic MG's was to band together for mutual benefit. In 1966 the Vintage MG Car Club was chartered as an Illinois non-profit corporation. Since then, it has been an active club sponsoring Rally's, Technical Sessions, Excursions, Parades, Brunch and Weekend Runs and friendly family get-togethers.
The club is dedicated to the preservation of pre-'56 MG's, whether it be running, in scattered pieces awaiting resurrection, dented or gleamingly restored. Many members have "newer" MG's as well.
There are three basic purposes of our club:
1. To help maintain, repair and restore their Vintage MG's. This is done through personal tip swapping, tech talks by members and outside authorities, parts-source information , parts swaps and evaluation of local repair shops. A technical library is maintained. Club tools-for-loan are available at no charge.
2. To help members enjoy driving their cars by presenting events such as Rally's, Excursions, Caravans, and Weekend Runs. We have members who support and participate in driver training and Vintage MG racing events at Blackhawk and Elkhart Lake.
3. To provide opportunity for Vintage MG enthusiasts to socialize and swap tales through garage parties, social meetings, and seasonal parties.
Due in the Club are $25 yearly. Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Mr. Beef and Pizza, 1796 Elmhurst Rd, Mt Prospect, Illinois. Club regalia items are available and the VINTAGE VIEWPOINT is published monthly to keep members abreast of Club activities and schedules.
